Connecting your bank is the single highest-value setup step in Omnyra. Your cash balance, burn rate and cash runway all come from it, and so does most of the business health score.
Steps
- Open Technology, or go to the bank connection page in Accounting.
- Select Connect Bank Account.
- Search for your bank and sign in with your bank credentials.
- Choose which accounts to share.
Who handles your login
The connection runs through Plaid, a financial technology company used by thousands of applications — including Venmo, Coinbase, and most major banks' own apps — to connect bank accounts securely.
Your bank credentials are handled exclusively by Plaid. Omnyra never sees or stores your bank username or password. You type them into Plaid's flow, not into Omnyra.
Plaid is SOC 2 Type II certified, uses AES-256 encryption, and is regulated as a data aggregator.
Elsewhere in the platform this is called simply your bank connection rather than Plaid, because the account you connected is your bank account — Plaid is the pipe, not the relationship. It is named here because "who is actually handling my login" is a fair question and a reference that dodges it is worse than one that answers it.
What Omnyra receives, and what it does not
Omnyra gets read-only access. It can report on your money; it cannot move it, and it cannot change anything at your bank.
Shared with Omnyra: account names and types, current balances, and transaction history — amounts, dates and merchant names.
Not shared with Omnyra: your bank login credentials, your account numbers, and your routing numbers.
That last line is the one worth knowing. Even in the event of a breach on Omnyra's side, the details someone would need to move money are not held here to be taken.
Turning it off
You can disconnect a bank at any time from the same place you connected it. Disconnecting stops any further reading immediately. Figures already calculated remain, because they are your business's history rather than the bank's data.
If the connection stops working
Bank connections expire. A password change, a new multi-factor prompt, or a periodic re-authorisation requirement from your bank will all interrupt it, and the symptom is usually a balance that has stopped updating rather than an error message.
Reconnecting is the same flow as connecting: sign in again and the history fills back in. Nothing already recorded is lost.
Bank and books together
If you also use accounting software, connect that too. Omnyra compares the two rather than merging them, so a figure that disagrees between your bank and your books surfaces instead of being quietly averaged.
