A connection stopped bringing data in

If new data has stopped arriving, the connection has almost always lapsed rather than failed. Reconnecting is the fix in nearly every case.

Why they lapse

A password changed. The connection was authorised with credentials that no longer work.

Someone revoked access, often without realising — tidying up connected apps at the bank or the provider.

The provider requires re-consent. Banks in particular are obliged to ask periodically, regardless of anything you did.

Two-factor was added at the provider since you connected.

None of these are unusual. A connection lasting forever without re-authorisation would be the surprising outcome.

What to do

  1. Open Technology and find the connection.
  2. Reconnect, signing in as the account that owns the data.
  3. Let it backfill. The gap fills in rather than starting from today.

Reconnecting does not lose anything already imported, and does not lose scheduled work such as social posts.

Sign in as the right account

The commonest reason a reconnection appears to work and brings in nothing is signing in with an account that can see the provider but does not own the data — a personal profile rather than the business page, or a user without access to the ledger.

Check what is actually stale

Sources shows what each system last reported. That is the fastest way to tell whether one connection is behind or whether a quiet week is simply a quiet week.

Social accounts specifically

Most social connection problems are permissions at the platform rather than anything here — being an admin of the business is not the same as being an admin of the Page. See connecting social accounts.

If reconnecting does not hold

A connection that lapses repeatedly is worth reporting rather than reconnecting weekly. Tell us which one and roughly how often — see getting help.
