Health reports

A health report is a dated snapshot: your overall health score for a period, the tier scores behind it, the figures they were calculated from, and the insights drawn at the time.

Why snapshots rather than only a live figure

A live score tells you where you stand. It cannot tell you whether that is better or worse than it was, and that comparison is where nearly all the useful information lives.

A B this month means something quite different if last month was a C than if last month was an A. Without dated snapshots there is no way to know, because the underlying numbers have moved on.

What is preserved

The score and its tiers, how many measures went into it, and the values of the measures themselves — not recalculated later, but as they stood.

That last part matters. Recalculating an old period from today's data would quietly rewrite history: a job costed properly in August changes what August looked like. A snapshot is what you actually knew at the time, which is the only fair thing to judge a past decision against.

When they are produced

At onboarding, so there is a baseline from the start. Monthly thereafter. And on request, when you want a reading before a specific conversation — a lender, a partner, a year end.

The onboarding one is worth more than it seems. Most owners have no record of what the business looked like before they started measuring it, and the first report is the only chance to capture that.

Reading a series

Three habits get the most out of them.

Compare against the same period last year rather than last month, because seasonal work makes month-to-month movement mostly weather.

Look at which tier moved rather than the overall grade. The grade is a summary; the tier tells you what happened.

Expect a drop after connecting a new source. More complete data frequently produces a lower score, because the score is now measuring things it previously could not see. That is the data improving, not the business declining — see how Omnyra reaches a number.
