The assistant does more than answer. It falls into four groups.
Reading your workspace
Balances, transactions, cash movement, alerts, the figures behind a metric, and the records supporting any of them.
This is the largest part of what it does, and it is what the wiki deliberately cannot do — see the Command Center for the boundary between the two.
Where a figure is questioned, it can produce what the figure was built from rather than restating it — see the evidence chain.
A financial answer says which basis it is on. Cash and accrual give different, both-correct answers to "what did I make", so a profit figure with no basis attached is not an answer — see cash vs accrual. The basis is not chosen per question, so the same question does not quietly switch basis between one asking and the next. It is worked out from your own data: if your books carry a meaningful amount of accrual revenue, answers come back on the accrual basis, and otherwise on cash. A workspace part-way through connecting its accounting software stays on cash until enough has arrived to report on, which is why the basis can change once and then settle.

Doing bookkeeping work
Categorizing transactions, in bulk as well as one at a time, and reconciling them against the bank.
This is ordinary work that would otherwise be done by hand, and it is the most common reason to ask it to act rather than answer — see uncategorized transactions and reconciliation.
Creating things
Leads and customers, quotes and quote templates, plans, growth blueprints, and marketing playbooks.
Work with several steps becomes a plan it can carry across sessions. Anything it produces that is worth keeping becomes an artifact.
Reaching into connected systems
Where a system is connected, the assistant can query it directly — field service work, accounting records, payment activity, advertising performance, the business profile, and calendar or document tools.
What it can reach is exactly what has been connected. Nothing connected means nothing to reach, whatever the question — see sources.
What limits it
Your role. It cannot retrieve or change anything your own access does not permit. Asking in chat is not a way around a permission — see roles and permissions.
What is connected. It reads what has arrived, and connections deliver on their own schedules — see data freshness.
Your workspace only. It has no view of any other business, and no general knowledge of your figures beyond what is recorded.
It will not state a figure it cannot source. Every number in an answer has to trace to data the platform actually returned during that turn, not to something it said earlier — otherwise one invented figure would license the next. The same rule covers claims about actions: it will not say it sent, saved or scheduled something unless that actually succeeded.
When it declines, ask for the same thing a different way, or open the screen the figure lives on. A refusal means the number was not sourceable in that moment, not that the number does not exist.
Where it will hand off
Questions about how the platform works, or what a term means, are the wiki's — and the wiki is faster for them because it does not need to look anything up.
