Days to get paid

Days to get paid is the average number of days between issuing an invoice and receiving payment. In accounting it is called days sales outstanding. It is derived from money owed to you measured against revenue over the same period.

A rising figure against flat revenue means cash is tightening even though sales have not changed.

Invoicing on completion rather than at month end typically reduces it more than pursuing late payers does.
